Like My Children...

"My songs are like my children. I conceive them (an idea or melody), raise them the best I can, with my focus on them (the writing process), prepare them for the cold cruel world (rewrite, polish, demo, etc.), then I let them go. I always stay in touch with them to see how they are doing, but most of my job has been done, and I don't let my life revolve around them anymore because I've got more kids to raise, and they need my immediate attention. And, who knows, one of them may grow up to be in the movies, win major awards, and make lots of money. Still, I love them all."

-Brett Beavers

I came across this quote while reading a book and it's really stuck with me. While I don't have any children, I can almost relate entirely to how Beavers feels about his songs. I thought I'd share this with you all. I think a lot of artists and fans alike are able to relate to Beavers in one way or another. What are your thoughts?
